L. Annaeus Cornutus: The Greek Theology, Fragments and Testimonia

George Boys-Stones

The first complete collection of the remains of the Stoic Cornutus (first-century AD), including the first published English translation of his Greek Theology. Cornutus has mainly been studied as a source for ancient allegorical readings of the poets; he is also known as one of the earliest commentators on Virgil. This volume shows that he was a original an important advocate of Stoic philosophy across a range of disciplines – especially metaphysics and logic.

The volume will be published in 2018 in the SBL Writings from the Greco-Roman World series.
